I witnessed a magical sunrise amidst the vast grasslands of Gudisa. I had a small scare as there was a traffic jam. Some of the vehicles could not negotiate the steep, rocky mountain road, and I thought I would not be able to reach in time.
As the vehicles started to crawl, I saw the dark, black sky clearing, and the first rays of the sun penetrated to cast various hues of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and indigo. The palette of an expert painter would have faltered to paint those colours.

I climbed to the top of the mountain. I stood amazed and dazed. The chill of the morning frosted my fingers.

The hills, dark and mysterious until then, glowed and glistened in all their verdant splendour as the Solar God cast its eyes on them, drenching them in myriad colours. The vast grasslands seemed to welcome this warmth. The clouds that had spread below the hills were still and firm. In another ten minutes, they would dissolve into vapour.

The magnificent isolation of this pristine spot acquired Himalayan proportions for me in a panoramic view.
Nature, from time immemorial, has been showing this facet—its invincibility and inimitability. On the other side of the hills, I found the village of Gudisa nestled in a valley.

I prayed that this wondrous gift from Nature be preserved: forever glorious, forever stupefying, forever powerful.
Gudisa is about a two-hour journey from Maredumilli and is known for the magnificent grasslands of the range.
