Unification of any region with another has to be not only territorial but also the emotional unity between the two people. This could be in various spheres like social, cultural, educational and economic. The integration that happens over a period between two regions which are very distinct ( as are Andhra and Telangana) has to be a process of trust building , empathy, honesty and statesmanship. Despite the good intentions and measures of the Andhra people the underlying theme and the rhetoric in the popular imagination of the Telangana people was mostly about exploitation and cornering the benefits ( Thousands of print and media hours were spent debating this in the time leading to the bifurcation of the state) by the Andhra people: said to have been voiced by none less than Jawahar lal Nehru himself about the wedding between a disjointed couple.
An awareness of the process of governance and just distribution of resources and benefits may have made the difference. However it is quite difficult to analyse the reality behind such a complex historical process as the integration and bifurcation of Ap and Telangana.
