What words I have to sing your praise
I’m not witness to your glory and pride.
I’m awed by your marvelous tales
of Quli, Ibrahim and Tanishah.
I have watched the sunset over the Dil Aghni
In the orange yellow sadness of the evening
I can listen to all your chatter and your bustle,
the lilting melodies of the queen’s Zenana
and the sweet notes of literature in the court.
Oh Golconda! The victim of a treacherous general
poisoned by your noble courtesy.
Lulled by your elegant luxury
You have withered like a
Weathered rock
Forlorn and mossy.

What are some of the most beautiful pieces of literature you have ever read?
I remember reading Oscar Wilde’s short stories The Happy Prince ,The Nightingale and the Rose and The Selfish Giant in my High school. Actually the first two of them were a part of the syllabus and the last one I found in another anthology. Those stories were the most beautiful pieces of Literature I have read. Only a person touched by the spirit of divine love can be so lyrical and moving.
The sadness and pain of the Happy Prince and the pure sacrifice of the sparrow who are blessed by the Lord Divine bring tears to the reader.
Wordsworth was another poet who could write beautifully about small and simple things. His small lyrical piece Daffodils which reads “And then my heart with pleasure fills and dances with the Daffodils” summons all the beauty of this small flower to eternally captivate the reader.
