What is the future scope for English literature students in India and abroad?

An inter disciplinary approach would be best. The emerging world view will be greatly in favour of those with skills than degrees or grades. In India English is greatly in demand but not perhaps English Literature ,which means English is one of the prerequisites for success given that it is the language of management, content development, corporate governance and Law. The sheer volume of research or material available in English than in other languages gives this distinct advantage. An intelligent student should carefully plan a career with English literature as the broad degree with a set of specific skills suited to the industry and their needs. In the public sector the only opportunity is in the teaching profession with a BEd for the school level or at the University level with a research degree.
